Been doing a bit of deep-sea fishing myself lately, definitely hooked but got to admit, those big ones keep giving me the slip. Just can't seem to reel them in. Anyone got any secret tips or techniques for catching the larger fish when you're deep-sea fishing? It'd be great to hear from some experienced deep-sea fishers. Are there specific baits or lures that work better for larger species? Does it boil down to sheer patience and luck or is there some real skill involved? Any help would be great, cheers!

Heavy gear's all well and good, but if your technique's off, it won't matter much. And sure, structure spots can be hot, but they're also the first place every angler checks out, so those fish can get smart and skittish. Ever think maybe those big ones aren't always where the fishing guides say they should be?
