The carp is a large-fish species that can reach a weight of anywhere from 20 to 60 pounds. It has a long body, often seen in color shades of bronze or golden green. Carp thrive in a variety of habitats, but they are particularly fond of slow-moving or still waters. This makes them common in lakes, ponds, rivers and canals. When fishing for carp, it's common to camp near the waterside overnight as carp are most active during dusk or dawn.
